SHAZAAM!

NEW COURSE PR!

Yesterday in Pittsfield, VT I ran one of my best races ever. Aid station transitions were all under 2 minutes. I ran more in this race then I've typically run in any race. I motored up hills, I crashed down hills, I flew through the mud... I really did finally just lay it all out there. My best effort. I was unsure how things were going to go after having marked the 20 mile Blood Root Loop on Wednesday... then running 6 miles of hills on Thursday and only taking Friday off. I felt like I was setting myself up for disaster. But this is peak week for Western States... it's do or die. It's time to put the miles in and see if I'm ready for the big dance in three weeks.

11 Hours and 22 minutes after the start I crossed the finish line in Pittsfield. I had run a new course personal best for myself by an hour and 5 minutes and I finished in 8th place. Crossing the finish line and seeing all of the faster runners still sitting there and clapping was an amazing feeling. I was focused.. I put it all out there and it paid off.

Report to come soon!

  1. Congratulations, John! You were on fire Saturday. Thanks for "coaching" the boys on too. :-)
