Race Preview: Pittsfield Peaks

Saturday, June 6, 2009 - 6am
Pittsfield, VT - Aimee Farm
50+ Miles - 24 Hour Time Limit
14,000' of Elevation Gain

Its kind of hard to believe that we are all ready in our third year of Peak Races. I'm very excited and privilege to be a part of the Peak Racing team. A team that brings to New England and the rest of the Ultra Running world. a series of events that push you to perform at your peak. This race has always been a good race to get a sense of how you're doing heading into the Vermont 100 (July 18th) and this year is no different.

On Tuesday, Nate Sanel and I were in Pittsfield marking the Bloodroot Loop. This 20 mile loop makes up the real meat and potatoes of the 50 mile course and is home to the longest climbs, the murkiest mud and the most aggravating stinging nettle. Also this year we have added a 50K option and a 10 Mile Hell Run. If you haven't signed up yet.. we'd LOVE for you to join us for any of our options. We also have a 50 Mile Relay!

Nikki Kimball returns on the womens side to defend her Peaks title as does three time winner Leigh Schmit. It should be a great race as always as the weather is going to cooperate. Sunny skies with a high near 80 degrees! Marking the course this past Tuesday was my first real run since Massanutten. My legs were feeling it and my feet are still very much traumatized form the punishment of MMT. So.. we'll see how things hold up.

Goals:
1.) Finish
2.) Sub 12 Hours
3.) Sub 10 Hours
Trip Reports From:
2007
2008
