OUCH! Man, no matter how many times you run it, The Pittsfield Peaks Ultra Challenge never gets easier. The mud on Bloodroot was a soupy sloppy mess. Your feet were guaranteed to get wet and mine certainly did. As if my feet didn't hate me after Massanutten, they sure as hell hate me now!
Still waiting for the final results to come in but from what I could tell, of the 63 starters 44 finished the run. I came in 20th with a time of 12:27, which was about 7 minutes slower then last year on what was deemed a much tougher course. Overall I'm pleased with the performance... but then again I was hoping for more.
Leigh Schmitt and Brian Resinski tied with a time of 8:51 for the win. Nikki Kimball won for the women at 9:47. Those who stuck it out to the brutal end and came in last did so in 18:47. WOW! I have no idea how the 50K went other then Jim Konopack from New Jersey won the race.
A great time was had by all... race report to come within the next day or so... hang tight!

Congratulations, and nice meeting you, John.
ReplyDeleteWay to hang in there for the finish lil' brother. your feet will learn to love you again.
ReplyDeleteNice run, SJ. Too bad I had to take off before seeing you all come in. Gilly (sp?) had a nice finish. Yeah I had a surprisingly good day and am relishing the unreality of crossing first. Minus Bloodroot, 50K was exactly like 50M, so you know it well. That last major climb before the end was a demoralizer!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your race. Nice time.
